Radiation Shielding Evaluations - Numerous radiation shielding evaluations have been performed for governmental and private clients.  These include: (a) X-ray, CT, fluoroscopic and mammography facilities; (b) irradiation facilities; (c) radioisotopic handling systems; (d) nuclear reactor areas;  (e) high-energy accelerator areas; (f) storage facilities for low-level waste, high-level waste, and mixed waste; and (g) structural specifications for a low-level radiation counting facility (to minimize the effects of background radiation and radioactivity in building materials).

Radiation Protection Program Development and Application - These services include (a) radioactive material license applications/amendments; (b) procedures development; (c) program reviews and audits; (d) radiation safety training; (e) internal radiation dose assessment; and (f) radioactive and hazardous waste management.  These services have been provided to 8 biomedical research companies, 3 hospitals, and 2 universities, as well as architects, high technology companies, and a medical product developer.

Internal Radiation Dosimetry - Projects include (a) the development of algorithms and software programs to assess radionuclide intake and dose associated with occupational exposure to radioactive materials, and (b) the development and application of methods to predict radiation dose to organs resulting from cancer treatment with radio-labeled monoclonal antibodies.

Studies of Commercial Radionuclide Applications - This multiyear effort, performed for the U.S. Air Force, is aimed at characterizing the commercial radionuclides industry.  Objectives include characterizing the production, distribution, usage and environmental discharges associated with industrial, medical, and research applications of commercially available radionuclides.
